Critics United? Now, that's a throwback!-Also, adults bullying kids!

Some of you, youngins, might not know who these people are. Just us old folks who had their start on FFN, which has been in a long-welcomed decline. I won't talk about my past fics on here mainly because they were God awful and not Fairy Tail, so not relevant.

I never had a run in with CU (I am aware of what that means in Portuguese, so I'll use it because it's so fitting) thankfully, but I know many who weren't as lucky.

Okay, CU was the moral police of FFN. FFN has some pretty weird rules about pretty harmless fics like no second pov, no audience interaction, no script fics, and no song lyrics. It's pretty dumb all in all.

These were harmless. Admittedly, I could understand fics that were smut/spicy especially if they contained non-con or anything underaged. There was a separate site called Adult Fanfiction. Net for that and other sites as well. But song lyrics? Come on that's harmless.

It should be noted that a lot of fics that including stuff like song lyrics, script fics, or audience interaction were written by those on the younger side who just started out writing in general.

Basically, KIDS! So, it was kind of a bad look to get your panties in a knot over something that kids were doing, so most just didn't care...until CU attacked!

They just went around mass reporting these fics and would pretty much bully them (mostly kids) into either changing or deleting their fanfics. Of course, they claimed they weren't ''bullying' they just threatened them until they did what they said...that's totally not bullying, right?

Wow, abuser logic right there, folks.

But guess what? CU is mainly made of ADULTS! So, these were mainly grown ass adults bullying kids into deleting their fics and possibly making them afraid to write online again.

I heard one story where a guy who was twenty-eight and married with a kid was doing this bullshit!

I cannot imagine being fucking twenty-eight years old with a family spending your free time bullying kids online. Like what? Where the hell are your priorities!

Believe it or not, but they are still around! I am glad I use AO3 now where everything goes. But I feel bad for the people (especially the kids) who got bullied and their fics taken down by these adults who should have learned to grow up already.

I tend to have a strong protective streak when it comes to kids, so thinking about CU just makes me upset, but thankfully they aren't as strong as they used to be. So, that's good.
